The Mexican actress-singer took to Instagram on 21st June to recount the agonising ordeal to her 11.3 million followers.

She shared a snap of herself in hospital, along with another showing her ear canal soaked in blood.

Anahi, 40, wrote on Stories: “And what seemed like a perfect day ended up like this. That horrible thing you see there is my inner ear.

“A few hours ago, they were making the mould for the in-ear monitors, the material broke, and they pulled it until they managed to remove it. This was the result.

“Just as it looks in the photo, that’s how it hurts. I don’t recall ever crying from a pain like this before. I can’t hear anything!

“So, I rushed to the hospital. The doctor says there’s a small perforation in my eardrum. I’m in shock.

“They say that when so much energy moves, unexpected things happen. But everything will be perfect.”

Jose Schimelmitz, the otolaryngologist treating Anahi, told local media: “While attempting to manipulate (the ear) and trying to remove the material without the appropriate instruments, they significantly injured the skin of the ear canal, resulting in a perforation of the tympanic membrane.

“The skin of the canal is very damaged, causing inflammation and exposed raw flesh.”

Anahi hopes she will recover in time for her tour with Mexican Latin pop group RBD, which begins in El Paso, USA, on 25th August.

RBD achieved international success from 2004 until the band’s separation in 2009, with over 15 million records sold worldwide.

As well as America, the band’s reunion tour will include dates in Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil.

This is not the first time Anahi has lost her hearing. In 2008, a fan crashed the stage to hug the singer during a concert.

The hug caused her in-ear headphones to get pushed deeper inside her ear, causing a temporary, 30-per-cent reduction in her hearing.

Anahi is married to former Chiapas state governor Manuel Velasco Coello and has two children.

She has starred in many telenovelas, including the hugely-successful “Rebelde”.

Her full name is Anahi Giovanna Puente Portilla, but she is widely known in Mexico by just her first name.
