Former Manchester United and Chelsea striker Radamel Falcao’s home in Spain has been broken into and plundered while he was on the pitch.
Police believe the crooks targeted the Rayo Vallecano forward after checking the team’s fixtures for 30th September.
A maid working at the player’s plush mansion in Madrid‘s posh El Plantio neighbourhood surprised the crooks, two hooded thugs, but they managed to flee before the police arrived, according to local media.
The crooks fled with what is believed to be a fortune in high-end watches, jewellery and a number of luxury bags belonging to the Colombian star’s wife, Lorelei Taron.
Falcao, 37, reported the theft to police later the same day.
Ironically, he had just scored his first goal of 2023 with Rayo Vallecano against Majorca after a long scoring drought.
The match ended in a 2-2 draw and he then took his wife and children out to dinner but was interrupted during the meal when he was alerted to the break-in, according to reports.
The robbery came just days after crooks targeted Sevilla FC star Sergio Ramos’ home.
Spanish police are investigating the burglary.
At the time of writing, no arrests had been reported.
