Singer Dies In Crash With Drink-Driver After Finally Signing Record Deal

A singer in Brazil died in a car accident shortly after realising his dream of signing his first record deal and thanking God with the words “those who wait always achieve”.

Country singer and composer Guilherme Leon, 32, died in the tragic crash on Rodovia Raposo Tavares, in Mairinque, in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo, on Saturday, 18th May.

The day before the crash, he had signed his first contract with a professional record label, according to local media reports.

He took to Instagram on 17th May to share the good news with his followers, saying: “God has always been faithful and those who wait always achieve.”

He was reportedly returning home after signing on the dotted line when another vehicle coming from the opposite direction entered his lane, causing a head-on smash.

His wife, unnamed, was also reportedly in the vehicle at the time and suffered injuries before being taken to hospital. Guilherme was likewise taken to hospital in serious condition but did not survive.

The driver of the other vehicle, who has not been named, reportedly fled the scene and failed to provide assistance.

The local police later tracked him down and arrested him, reportedly telling officers that he had been drinking, claiming that he had left the scene to seek medical assistance as he had also been injured.

The police have opened an investigation for culpable homicide.
