Patricia Lelis, 30, who has been on the run for more than 80 days, fled after she accused of posing as a US immigration lawyer to fleece wealthy would-be migrants.

Now in an X post from 3rd April to her 235,000 followers, she has taunted federal officials for failing to catch her.

She wrote: “First case in the world in which the FBI is unable to locate a person who is always posting on the internet. FBI, you used to be better, huh?”

Lelis also said: “I should win an award from the KGB or Russian intelligence for being the only person that the FBI supposedly cannot find for more than 80 days. Even though I’m on social media, at home, using a credit card… Just me!”

To add insult to injury Lelis, who at the time of writing was still free, tagged the FBI in the tweet.

Local media reported that in another post she even revealed her location by showing a weather report on her phone which showed she was in Cuauhtemoc, Mexico.

US prosecutors say Lelis posed as an immigration attorney to charge clients in her Brazilian homeland up to USD 270,000 a time to fix special E-2 and EB-5 visas.

Legitimate E visas can be obtained by investing around USD 1 million in job-creating projects in the US.

Holders can be granted permanent US residence and may eventually be eligible for citizenship.

But instead of investing her clients’ cash, Lelis, say prosecutors, blew the lot on a house in Arlington, Virginia. Shopping and paying off her credit card debts.

Lelis, it is alleged, showed her victims forged court documents to convince them that she was qualified to practice law in the US.

But in order to qualify for an E visa she persuaded them to put money into a bogus investment fund in Texas which prosecutors say did not exist, say reports.

Lelis drew up fake immigration forms, false receipts and created bogus online profiles of members of the fraudulent fund to make the scam more convincing, say prosecutors.

An indictment states that she even asked her friends to pose as employees of the fund in phone and video calls with her victims.

The US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia named her as Patricia De Oliveira Souza Lelis Bolin in a statement on 12th January, obtained by Newsflash.

They said: “According to the indictment, to cover up the scheme and to obtain more money. Lelis Bolin allegedly provided a victim with a fabricated U.S. District Court pleading with a false case number showing her as the litigating attorney.

“Lelis Bolin is not a licensed attorney. She is also alleged to have falsified U.S. immigration forms, forged multiple signatures. And created fake receipts from the Texas investment project, all of which she emailed to a victim.

“Lelis Bolin also allegedly created false personas associated with the Texas investment fund and sent emails from those individuals to try to obtain even more money.

“The indictment alleges she talked friends into posing as employees of the Texas investment fund in phone calls and video calls with a victim.”

Schemer Lelis even threatened to have reluctant investors’ parents deported from the US if they did not pay up, according to local media.

They said: “When a victim finally refused to send her any more money. Lelis Bolin allegedly threatened the victim’s parents with removal from the United States and then referred them to a collections agency.”

If found guilty, Lelis could spend up to 20 years in prison.

Lelis previously made headlines when she accused a Brazilian politician of rape in 2016.

The case later dropped due to a lack of evidence.
