Judges Spare Sick Killer Life Behind Bars

A banker who brutally killed and butchered an OnlyFans star has been spared life behind bars because a judge astonishingly ruled that he had not shown cruelty.

Carol Maltesi, known as Charlotte Angie, 26, pictured with unidentified man, was identified as the victim whose body was in pieces in four garbage bags on the afternoon of 20th March, 2022, along the provincial road of Borno, Italy. (@charlotteangie/Newsflash)

Prosecutors had demanded life imprisonment for Davide Fontana, 44, for the aggravated murder of 26-year-old victim Carol Maltesi.

Fontana was found guilty of clubbing her to death with a hammer before slashing her throat after the court heard how he had attacked her as she was bound and gagged while shooting content for the London-based adult platform.

Then he hacked her body to pieces and kept them in plastic bags in his freezer for two months.

Her remains were only found in March last year after Fontana dumped them at the bottom of a cliff in Borno, in Lombardy, Italy.

Astonishingly judges at Busto Arsizio Assizes, in northern Italy’s Lombardy region, ruled that there had been no premeditation or cruelty and sentenced Fontana to just 30 years in jail.

Following Carol’s disappearance, calculating Fontana sent messages from her mobile phone to trick her friends and family into believing she was still alive.

But he was later tracked down by investigators after the woman’s remains were identified thanks to distinctive tattoos on her body.

Fontana was Carol’s next-door neighbour and the two had dated for a few months.

She had become an OnlyFans star during the coronavirus pandemic.

Investigators said he killed her after she told him she wanted to move away to be closer to her son from a previous relationship, in the Veneto region.

Fontana has reportedly been ordered to pay EUR 40,000 (GBP 35,000) to the victim’s father, EUR 60,000 (GBP 51,500) to her mother and EUR 180,000 (GBP 154,500) to her son.

The amount is far lower than what the civil parties had requested – EUR 2 million (GBP 1.71 million) for Carol’s son, EUR 800,000 (GBP 687,000) for her ex-partner, and EUR 500,000 (GBP 430,000) each for her parents.

Fontana reportedly asked the woman’s family and son for forgiveness.
