A couple who run a health spa have been seized by police after the brutally beaten body of a Korean influencer was found at the bottom of a pond.

Victim BJ Ahyeong – who has over 260,000 followers – had been so badly beaten that her face was almost unrecognisable, according to local media in Cambodia.

Ahyeong – who once reportedly dated K-pop idol Mark from GOT7 – had a broken neck and burns to her body and had been wrapped in a rug before her body was dumped.

Cambodia media say 33-year-old model Ahyeong was holidaying in Cambodia prior to her disappearance.

She had not been seen or heard from since March when she announced she was quitting her online life.

Ahyeong’s regular posts of herself in revealing lingerie had won her a worldwide army of fans.

A Chinese couple – named as Lai and Cai Mou – were arrested by the police investigating her disappearance for suspected murder after her body was found in the pond in Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s capital.

They reportedly told the police that Ahyeong was a guest at their spa when she died on 4th June while being treated with a saline drip and serum injection.

The couple reportedly claimed that they then wrapped her body in a red rug and dumped it in the pond.

But her body has now been taken for autopsy after it was found with signs of violence, including a broken neck and marks consistent with a beating, according to local reports.

South Korean media reported that the Korean Ministry of foreign affairs has said that they will be providing “consular assistance to the deceased’s family“.

The investigation is ongoing.
