A chesty blonde has quit her job as a checkout girl and now hopes to make it as a full-time model after going viral for taking up an influencer’s challenge to try on a dress.
Curvy Jaquelyney Dgd – the name she goes by on Instagram for her 127,000 followers – had been balancing her part-time work as a model and make-up artist with her cashier job at an Oxxo convenience store in Mexico.
But her life got turned upside down when influencer Ashly Arisdelcy spotted her texting on her phone outside work on 5th August and approached her with a challenge.
Ashly who has more than 10 million followers across Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram – is famous for her social media videos showing her approaching women and asking them to try on daring outfits.
Ashly approached Jaquelyney with a dress in one hand and MXN 5,000 (GBP 230) in the other and asked her to try it on.
Jaquelyney accepted the challenged and changed clothes right outside her workplace, walking away with the cash.
But things escalated when Ashly’s video went viral and eagle-eyed netizens identified the store where Jaquelyney worked.
She told local media: “Many people were just coming to see me, not even to make a purchase.
“So, the owners got annoyed and called me out, but they didn’t fire me or say anything negative.”
Despite this, Jaquelyney quit under pressure.
She explained: “Many people started bothering me, and I no longer felt comfortable.”
It had got to the point – she said – where people were waiting for her outside the store saying: “Take a photo with me, let’s go for a coffee, beautiful.”
Despite losing her job, Jaquelyney picked up 65,000 new social media followers and now hopes to make it full-time as a model.
Before quitting, she had been balancing her existing modelling work with her job at Oxxo.
She said: “In modelling, sometimes there’s work, and sometimes there isn’t.
“So, when I needed to model during the day, I would request permission, and they would grant it. But other companies might not be as willing.”
Jaquelyney says some agencies have been in touch with her with work offers and she also plans to go into “content creation”.
