Polly Cannabis, 26, a beauty pageant model named Lady Universe and Miss Top Model Universe, claims she was robbed of Bulgari and Roberto Coin jewellery worth RUB 2.2 million (GBP 19,700).

The model, who is also a TV presenter has accused airport workers in Istanbul of forming a gang to carry out the heists from travellers in a sophisticated manner, according to Russian media.

Polly Cannabis was on a Belavia flight from Istanbul to Minsk and had her luggage checked into the hold, but was careful to keep her jewellery in her carry-on bag.

But she was reportedly told that there was not enough room on the flight for her belongings and that the carry-on bag would have to be checked in.

Local media reported that the airport workers who handled her carry-on bag inspected the zippers and locks on it carefully.

And after arriving in Minsk, she realised that she was missing her jewellery.

She reported the case to the Minsk police before flying back to Istanbul to report the theft to law enforcement there.

Russian media reported that airport footage of her luggage was cut off at key moments and sometimes even blurred, making the investigation difficult and raising suspicions that it could have been an organised job with multiple suspects.

The investigation is ongoing.

Polly Cannabis is currently the host of the ‘Beautiful Show’ on the Belarusian channel TNT.
