The model – named as Ai Satsuki – looks astonishingly like the real thing as she poses in a bra and panties with what seems like a flawless body.

The images surfaced in Shueisha’s Weekly Playboy magazine in Japan, which has no links to the US company.

Her name is not only worldwide shorthand for Artificial Intelligence, it also means ‘love’ in Japanese and is a popular female name.

Known for its sizzling photo spreads of real-life models, Weekly Playboy announced the photo shoot describing Ai as: “Stuffed full of men’s ideals.”

They added: “Even if she doesn’t actually exist, the love for her that sprouts in your heart is real.”

Keen to make Ai appear as realistic as possible, she even has her own back story.

She is 1.57 metres (5.15 feet) tall, was born in Tokyo and enjoys playing video games.

Weekly Playboy asked netizens what they thought about the virtual model, with users reportedly replying enthusiastically.

Some said that at least there would be “no scandals” or “scheduling problems”, while others said that they preferred real people to be photographed.

There did however seem to be a consensus that Ai is attractive and that the practice would catch on eventually.

But many netizens said they found it more interesting if the model is real because it is easier to feel attached to someone who has real experiences and real life.
