Child, 2, Drowns In Hotel Swimming Pool While Influencer Parents Sleep On Mother’s Day

An influencer couple who went to sleep cuddling their toddler woke up to find the two-year-old boy had drowned in the swimming pool at the hotel where they were staying for a Mother’s Day outing.

CPR efforts by the parents and later hotel staff restarted his heart, but it has now been revealed that after a fight for life in intensive care, he has now died.

Malaysian influencer Jasmine Yong, who has over 468,000 followers on Instagram, had been staying at a hotel for Mother’s Day with her husband Lim Kong Wang, who is also an influencer, and their two-year-old son Anze.

A touching video of happier times shows the couple in a car and playing with their young son.

But Jasmine took to Instagram to share more tragic news, saying: “It is with a heavy heart that our sweetheart informs everyone that our baby Anze’s heartbeat stopped yesterday afternoon despite adequate oxygen supply.

“Our baby Anze has become a happy little angel. There is no pain or hardship anymore. Thank you for everyone’s prayers and blessings.”

She added: “What happened: On Saturday, the day before Mother’s Day, our family of three checked into a hotel to celebrate Mother’s Day.

“On Mother’s Day, Sunday, Anze was cuddling up to us on the hotel bed as usual, drinking milk and fell asleep.

“We also took a nap and woke up to find that he was not next to me, and saw that the originally locked door of the indoor swimming pool had been opened and found that Anze was in the swimming pool.

“At that moment I performed cardiac emergency CPR but he did not respond. Due to the poor network of the hotel, we could not make a call for help, and my father also came to the door at the same time. We called for help but no one responded.

“We hurriedly ran to the hotel lobby with the baby in our arms and asked the hotel staff to help call an ambulance and provide first aid until the ambulance arrived.”

Her post caption continued: “Half an hour after being sent to the hospital for rescue, our baby finally recovered his heartbeat but was still in a coma.

“Our baby worked hard to hold on until yesterday afternoon when the baby’s heartbeat stopped with sufficient oxygen supply.

“No one wants this kind of accident to happen. We sincerely request all major media reports not to exaggerate, quote out of context, or make things up out of thin air.

“The story is not complicated. Don’t misbelieve any rumours. Protecting Anze’s baby and his family is the greatest comfort to us. Please let baby Anze leave in peace, thank you.”

The tragic drowning reportedly took place on 12th May, which is Mother’s Day in Malaysia and in a number of other countries around the world.
